You are 24 and have 30k in savings. You are doing everything right ? |
It seems kind of low compared to previous posts, and I also had to work a LOT to get there, over several years. It's not that I didn't want to put in the work, but it seems like other people achieved the same goal much more easily. I don't have any investments or stocks, only money in my bank account. Maybe it's a sign that I should look into other saving vehicles! |
| I'm 29. We have 50k is savings, 160K in 401, and 10k in a money market fund. Like many others, most of our money is tied up in our home. |

No savings No retirement No debt 350k condo paid off. I'm fucked and don't know what to do. |
At least you have a paid off home to live in though. Why can't you start saving now -- how's the income, does it allow 401k and other saving? Savings will go up quick for you bc you don't have a mortgage/rent. |

Income $70k Savings Cash-$10k Roth 401K-$25k vs. Debt Student Loan-$90k |

28 years old, $60k income, renter, about $45k in savings split between checking account, bonds, mutual funds, and a retirement account that is a much smaller percentage of that than it should be.
Student loans were just paid off a few months ago and ever since, I've been planning to develop some kind of long-term investment strategy other than "let money pile up in checking account" but never actually following through. |
