I like Tim and Andy, but DH doesn't.

We have talked a lot about Peter, but I don't really like Pete. Is Peter still a nice guy name?

I was raped by a Pete in college, so not a nice guy name to me. (I realize that's not a universal quality. Still. Gives me shivers.)

Patrick or Jack would be my choices. Nate is good too.

Discretion is the better part of valor, PP.

Are you saying I should be discrete about the person who raped me?

The OP asked for opinions about names. I shared mine. It's authentic. Deal with it.

Yes, discrete to an expectant mother whose DH can both agree on the name. You need to deal with what happened to you in a more constructive way. BTW, I was raped too, and I wouldn't weigh in on a name like this. You're being rude not authentic.

Tom's a guy who knows the value of hard work and will buy you a beer during happy hour.

Tom Schwartz would. Tom Sandoval, not so much.

NP here and YOU are the one being rude. PP's opinion was in response to a request for it. Yours was unsolicited.

Anonymous wrote:Everyone's interpretation of which names are nice guy names will be different based on actual ppl they have known w the name...for me, the nicest guys that I know are: Joe, Ben, Henry, Harry, Dan, Rob, John, William, Barney, Ezra, Andrew, Evan, Chris

Take from that what you will

Names that I have bad connotations w are more plentiful and I won't list them bc who cares but I'll just say that I've never known a Matt or a Jason who wasn't kind of a jerk. Also seem to be a lot of bad Joshes and Tylers out there

No way! My brother-in-law is a Jason and one of the nicest men I've ever met. I also have an ex-boyfriend named Jason, but the niceness-factor isn't why we broke up.

Good luck naming your kid, OP. I'm due in a couple of weeks and can't come up with a boys name either!

I'm the poster you're responding to and you proved my point! Connotations are personal. I don't know a kind Jason but I don't doubt you do, i.e. There are no names that are exclusively nice guy names (or exclusively bad guy names) op, just go w a name both you and your husband like.. Good luck

Every Jeff I've ever known has been a complete dick.

I have a family member named Dennis who is a true sociopath & have a neighbor named Dennis who's a huge bigot. Those happen to be the only two Dennises/Dennys I know.

This is so subjective. I love Tim and Dave and Nate and Tyler and Spencer and Mark and Nick. Tommy, Dave, Jim... So many options! Just not Phil. Phil is a sleezebag.

Luke is a nice guy, a bit introverted, a real man's man.

No way on Gregory/Greg, he's a cheater, can't keep it in his pants.

Every guy I've known named Jeremy has been really kind and good natured. Never known a bad Jeremy.
