Would you rent a vacation house with a pool (no fence) if your 4 year old could not swim?

Actually, I am not the type to babyproof to excess - in fact, beyond securing the stairs, and moving the knives to a higher location, I did nothing at all.

Nonetheless, I wouldn't rent that house and pool. Way too much stress. I wouldn't want to follow my kid around all the time. I would want him to be able to play in the yard without me.

I also haven't forgotten what it looked like as I sunk to the bottom of a pool with my tricycle at that age, and how relieved I was when I saw my dad's legs coming toward me.
