Pick UVM for the free tuition. Burlington is a great college town (was there myself) and having tremendous debt after college is heartbreaking. There is obviously a difference between the two schools, but not enough to justify overwhelming debt which will only be higher with the cost of medical school. The reality is that your child can get a great education depending on the work they put into the education. Have him/her make sure to take tough courses, participate with research and work their butt off and they will have just a good of chance to get into a great medical school no matter which school they choose for undergrad.
