| There is some sex talk that will probably go over your kid's head. At a Halloween party one of the mean girls tells Cady that she has to wear a slutty costume because if she doesn't, she's slut-shaming the girls that do. There is a Christmas talent show that involves a dance where the girls slap their thighs. There are some good messages. I think it's more appropriate for an eighth grader than a sixth grader, but I would be okay with my sixth grader knowing the plot of Mean Girls. |
This will NOT go over a t(w)een’s head. Sorry |

My DD is 12 and hasn’t seen it. But I’m admittedly conservative about this kind of stuff.
As some context, my 15yo has watched Breaking Bad, but she watched it with us and not on her own. |
Really, really dislike this for an 11yo. But that could be my issue as someone who was overweight as a teen. |

It came out when I was in 4th grade. I was allowed to watch it once we had it on VHS a year or two later, around age 11. I was fine.
My daughter is 7, and she absolutely loves mean girls. We talk about how their language (using the R word, b word etc) is not okay, as well as how they treat each other. She seems to get it. I figure it's not as bad as the very violent movies she sees when she's at her dad's 🙄 |
7?? That’s not ok. But now I see she has divorced parents. Makes sense. |
