"I can't feel my face when I'm with you..."

I once had Bell's Palsy and can relate to the line.

Thanks for explaining the lyrics. I guess I'm naive, I had no idea nor did I catch the meaning behind Michelle Pfeiffer and Uma Thurman.

Yes but according to a previous thread on this "song of the summer" was almost unanimously voted to be a song that was big in... spring.

I also loved Demi Lovato's "Cool for the Summer"

I'm naive. Is "Michelle Pfeiffer" a drug reference too? Is that what Bruno Mars was talking about?

LOL are you just now figuring it out? That combined with "white gold" after it didn't ring any bells?

NP - I had no idea. I thought white gold was calling her some type of trophy.

Wow. I didn't know this either! I thought he was such a good kid...

Bruno Mars? Check out the first verse of "Gorilla":

Ooh I got a body full of liquor
With a cocaine kicker
And I'm feeling like I'm thirty feet tall
So lay it down, lay it down...

Gorilla is such a hot song, but it makes me blush, seriously!

Maybe he just knows she really, really hates it when he stands there touching his face all over as he really likes to do for some reason so he's a little bit forlorn that he can't do this when he's out with her. He feels a bit sad about it. So it's about the sacrifices we make for love.

That and cocaine.

And here I felt old because I thought it was about coke and then I quickly corrected myself, "but surely 'the kids these days' don't do coke! it's all about molly. have another werther's and go to bed."

i love the song, actually, great dance song.

2. Unused excitement that causes you to feel separated from your head.

3. Getting so excited when thinking about future events.

Those make as much sense as it being about cocaine.

well maybe the fact that nearly every other song from the weeknd is about drugs lol.

Ok- I also had no clue the song was about cocaine, but my students sure did!

I was talking about this with a co-worker because I was so excited to tell her what I had 'discovered' about the lyrics. A 4th grader over heard me mention the song lyric and told me that he loves the song too, but can't listen to it at school because someone might thing he's selling/using cocaine.

Kids say/know the darnedest things.

In other news- he also told me that the old phrase 'snitches get stitches' is no longer accurate. Now- they get an eye 'torn' out. Good to know.

They both play coke heads in their most cult-favorite roles.

Wasn't it heroin in Pulp Fiction?

Both

My understanding is the Michelle and Uma reference is because cocaine is nicknamed "White Girl". Insert Taylor, Madonna, any "Becky" really....
