Yep. Comments like the PP's are so dumb. Nothing's stopping you from going to school, getting a teaching degree, and finding a teaching job, just like I did. So why didn't you?

It's because it's not really about that, is it, PP? Comments like "I wish I had 10 weeks off every summer" are made to make sure that teachers know their place. We have no right to complain about anything, because we have more summer vacation time than you, right? We need to just shut up and listen to the bullshit that we hear about our profession from the likes of you because we have such cushy jobs where we can leave at 3:00 PM and take the whole summer off. It's a seductive narrative. Has no basis in reality, of course, but widespread nonetheless.

If I had qualms about my profession, I would go to discussion groups for people in my profession to discuss or talk internally with my organization. I wouldn't get on a public parenting message board complaining about my job unless I wanted a parent to help in some way.
