I remember when we first got email at my office. For a long time the company president had his assistant print out all his emails LOL
Also. working at a research firm doing product testing for a cellphone that had a keyboard built into it. I thought it was the most ridiculous thing -- why would anyone want to type on their phone on a tiny keyboard?!? LOL Good thing I wasn't responsible for doing that forecasting! |

So many examples, but I distinctly remember hearing about mapquest in 1996 and being amazed.

The first time I got online, 1995 my friend showed me how in the computer lab at university |
I remember my Dad having a huge, clunky car phone.
Having a bank card and being able to get cash whenever I wanted was amazing. Our first push button phone meant no more dragging the dial all the way around the rotary dial phone to dial "0". As another PP mentioned, using an electronic typewriter for the first time. I could type out a line, and be able to correct it before it printed. Using liquid paper in school. I can't remember which grade. |
I worked for the Army in the 1980's. We typed everything on Selectric typewriters with 8 carbons. If you made a typo you had to erase it with a typewriter eraser, 8 times. Sometime you made such a bad mistake you had to start the whole page over. Then we got a Unix minicomputer with a bunch of terminals and a daisy wheel printer. It was SO GREAT. |
I remember receiving one of the first iPods as a gift. Never heard of it before, but immediately thought that it was the best idea ever.
I also remember my first pager, given to me by husband right after we got married. I remember thinking how awesome it was to be able to send messages to someone anytime. Needless to say, I was over the moon once texting became common. |
I remember my first time in Chipotle. |
I remember thinking in high school that CDs were the best invention EVER. Like totally. (It was the mid-80's!) I grew up listening to music on cassette tapes and hated that I had to rewind or fast forward them to get to a song that I liked. CDs allowed me to go from song to song.
Now with iPods I think people who have one are just the luckiest SOBs. I still only have a CD player, but am dying to learn how to use an iPod. I am 46. |
I remember when I was a kid going as a family to buy our first microwave. ![]() |
Uber! Some of us live in the suburbs where taxis will not venture for a 2 mile cab ride. Über is a genius idea. |
Me too, but it was Colorado, the original. I flew in late and my brother picked up a bunch of Chipotle burritos. I thought OMG we need a place like this. |
Oh get over yourself, I was living n the south and started doing yoga in 95 and it was not the least bit unusual. Neither was support for gay rights. |
BS |
I remember this too! There were stores that only sold microwaves and they offered microwave cooking classes! |
