Please stop spraying your sunscreen near us

Why are you so bothered if your kids get a little spray sunscreen on them? Presumably you don't want your kids to get burned and use creams. If you're using a public pool, you're going to get WAY worse stuff on your kids, even if you're vehemently against sunscreen altogether.

Can't you READ, PP? The OP said she wants people to stop spraying their sunscreen near enough to her so she and her kids have to breathe it in, which is DANGEROUS and toxic and bad for her and her kids' health. She even posted a link to a story about how bad SPRAY sunscreens are for children!!

OP said nothing about not using sunscreen!

FWIW, my child has asthma, and we have to run away whenever someone starts spraying sunscreen anywhere near us, or it will trigger an asthma attack.

If you must use spray sunscreen, PP, PLEASE, spray it on at home, preferably indoors, where you'll get all the benefit of it, but not harm anyone else. Plus, don't you know you're supposed to apply sunscreen 30 minutes before you go into the sun so it will be most effective?

Spray sunscreen should be BANNED. It's ruined summer for us!!

"ruined summer for you". Drama Llama much? You're probably the parent that bitches b/c your special snowflake can't bring PB&J to school

It doesn't bother me unless is is windy and I happen to be downwind of the spray. Aside from any potential health risks, it's just rude to spray close by other people. I wouldn't like it any better if it were hairspray or perfume.

Op here. I have no problem with sunscreen, and we all use it. But the safety of SPRAY sunscreen has been specifically questioned and FDA recommends against using it on children. I don't see why my kids have to be put at risk by your ignorance.

Then you need to get a private pool. It is a product that is legal for use in public places.

You are probably that large, loud woman who was sitting next to us last weekend at our private pool. I asked her politely not to spray her sunscreen near my child because he has asthma, and she refused. She told me to find another pool, and that it wasn't illegal, and she can spray her sunscreen wherever she wanted. Was that you, PP? If so, you are a very inconsiderate person, and I'm ashamed you were invited to join our pool. If I ever get a chance to kick you out, I will do so.

We moved to the other side of the pool (in the sun!) Why did this woman need to spray her sunscreen in the shade anyway?

Lots of things are legal, PP, but they are rude. Do you spit whenever and wherever you feel like it? Do you get drunk out of your mind at the pool and then vomit all over the chairs? Neither is illegal, PP, just impolite.

Those things are illegal moron. Are you drunk right now and about spit and vomit all over the pool chairs? Interesting examples.

OK, you got me, PP. Do you have a child with asthma? How recently have you taken your child to the ER because of an asthma attack? In the last week? Last month? Last year?

You really need to relax. People have a right to decide what's best for them. YOU Had no right to ask her to stop spraying her child. If it bothers you move for the 10 seconds it takes to apply the sunscreen. I have no sympathy for you. You sound entitled and obnoxious.

Signed,

Mom who doesn't use spray

And of course her body size was relevant because....

I love spray sunscreen, but I do try to step away from the crowd when we use it

Good God take control! Pathetic!

"My kid refuses to fly coach so we stay home because we can't afford business."

Seriously? Some battles just aren't worth fighting. If the kid prefers spray - go with spray... just be mindful of the people around. How difficult is this?

We use lotion most often but do have a spray. I only use it to spray DD's legs (facing downward and have DD look up), or spray my hands and then wipe it on her. This has NOTHING to do with the spray, it's about people being ignorant and disrespectful. Plain and simple.

then use the pool at your house
...oh yea....

PP, if your child needs to be hospitalized after being in the vicinity of spray sunscreen, then you need to reconsider using a pool that is used by families other than your own. And you probably need to reconsider lots of other public outings as well.

Health and safety information is a wonderful thing. Using your own preferences to bully and shame others who either are less well informed, or less vigilant, about potential risks, particularly when they are relatively modest risks, is not so wonderful.
