The magnet program is irrelevant to the topic of this thread. If you want to talk about abolishing the magnet programs at Blair, please start your own thread. |

+10. The most racist people I've encountered in my life are African and black. Racism permeates all races. |
Nobody has said that African-Americans or Africans can't be racist. Of course African-Americans or Africans can be racist. Anybody can be racist. And anybody can be bigoted. But there's still no such thing as "reverse racism". |
This thread is about racism at Blair and the magnet program in particular. OP's point may be that a racially segregated magnet program that denies qualified minorities equal opportunities or treats people of color differently should be abolished. |
No, this thread is about racism at Blair. If OP wants to talk about racial segregation in MCPS, or the inherent racism of magnet programs in general, or racism in this magnet program in particular, or selection criteria for this magnet program that intentionally deny equal opportunity to some people by race or that unintentionally result in disparate impact, then the OP should start a new thread. |
I too am waiting this definition they are referencing. If I were to entertain the "power dynamic" argument which is nowhere in any credible definition I can find of racism - I'd refer you to the race of the President of the United States (who is the Commander in Chief of the United States Military) as well as the race of the woman in charge the entire United States Justice Department. What group is it that's in power? What group is in power in Baltimore? All that aside, the power dynamic argument (not a definition) is weak and can certainly be seen as a racist argument in and of itself. It is an argument that was created to excuse bad behavior. Racism "by definition" can absolutely run many different ways. |
Good grief. 500 years of structuring North American society to take power away from non-European-heritage people is irrelevant, because the US president and US Attorney General are both black. Yay! If only. But yes, racism by definition can run in many different ways, depending on who has the power in a society and who doesn't. Which society are you talking about? |
Have you seen the racist filth and outright disrespect directed at the President? Can you think of any comparison in history? No, you can't. Your argument is ridiculous and you are most certainly a white Republican -- thankfully, a dying breed. |
Wow, you sound pretty angry. I feel like I met you before. Were you one of the Bush=Hitler sign wavers back in '06? |
B.S. Show me video of a blk fraternity singing chants about hanging whites? Move a white family into largo/mitchellville and a blk family into sections of VA or onley in Moco and lets see which community is more inclusive |
Oh, is there a video of a black fraternity singing chants about hanging white people? In any case, these are examples of bigotry and prejudice, not racism. Anybody can be bigoted or prejudiced against anybody. However, they are not examples of racism in the US. Why? Well, historically, which group got lynched, and which group did the lynching? Which group made the housing laws, and which group's access to housing was limited by those laws? |
That's an excellent point! Racism is racism no matter who has it in their heart. |
| What is "reverse racism"? |
The reverse of racism is unconditional love. |
