What to buy at Trader Joe's...

For an awesome table wine that's better than Charles Shaw by a long shot but still only $3.99 - La Finca. It's really good! I've tried to Cab, the Shiraz and the Chardonnay. All good.

As good as the Pear Cider? Goes great with pork shu mai.

I agree with the "never know when its gone" statement. I used to LOVE this cereal I got from them. It was a shredded wheat cereal with a strawberry jam inside. IT was THE BOMB! and they stopped carrying it.

I like TJ's frozen prepped meals, their dairy is cheaper than other stores. I don't go there much, however.

Will the dumbass who resurrected a thread from 2009 please raise their hand?

You just put the thread back to the top, so raise your own hand.

pirate booty. that's it.

???? at trader joe's?

I just got large bags of pirate booty at Costco-significantly cheaper than anywhere else I've seen it.

Just went to TJs and bought these regular items:
organic yogurts (mango parfait, strawberry)
cheese sticks
sliced cheese
frozen pizzas
turkey meatballs
nuts
bananas
puffins cereal
organic butter
chocolate chips
organic unfiltered apple juice
fruit leathers
Z-bars

One thing I like is their conventional dairy products are made from cows that are not given the rBST.

I do think their prices have increased recently. It happens to be closer to my house than WF, but a new WF is opening soon near me and I might start doing more comparison shopping.

no they don't.

However - I buy the large containers of organic yogurt and organic applesauce, and just mix baby cereal in it at home. Much cheaper than the tiny jars, and less waste.

I temporarily lived betweent he Rockville TJ's and Whole Foods a few months ago, so I compared prices a lot. TJ's was almost always cheaper, I would say by 20-30%. WF generally had better quality produce, more prepared foods, and a nice bakery. TJ's has better frozen food IMHO.

Tried the licorice and the Joe Joes.

Didn't liek either of them. The licorice left a bad taste in my mouth.

However, I find that their prepared/frozen foods are not always enough to feed my family (we're just three - my, DH, and DD). My DH is tall and athletic and eats a lot, so if I were to make a bag of frozen rice stir fry, there's no way that's enough food to feed all of us a full meal. So I would have to buy two bags, which isn't as economical.

That said, it's GREAT for feeding toddlers, and great if it's just me and DD for the night.

I also like to cook from scratch, so prefer things in bulk rather than prepared.

All of that said, their pork carnitas makes delicious tacos on taco night!!!

On the other hand as a single mother of one I find them perfect!

NP here. Had the famed pork shu mai with gyoza dipping sauce. Meh. Just weren't all that... the hype here had built them up for me. Was a tad disappointed.

The tarte d'alsace, on the other hand, is to die for! And sinful.

I just gave my toddler some Five Seed Almond bars this weekend, and she loves them! It's a struggle getting to her to eat foods that aren't all carb, and these have plenty of protein (because of nuts) and have Omega 3's too. They have a spice cookie flavor. In the Rockville store they're on a shelf above the freezer section.

For those unfamiliar with them, this link has a photo of the package:
