"grand baby" driving me crazy!

On the other hand, my MIL calls my son "my baby", and that makes me want to throttle her or scream, "YOUR BABY IS THE 43 YEAR OLD IN THE KITCHEN, YOU WEIRDO. THIS IS MY BABY!"

But that's just me.

It's not just you.

From the northeast, and I hear a lot of people using grandbaby. People love their children's babies- is there something wrong with that? I can't help but smile when people speak excitedly about their grandbabies. Talk about unconditional love!

I'm from the Midwest. My mother doesn't use the term 'grand baby' but we do use 'baby boy' and 'baby girl'. My DS is 12 and I still call him 'baby boy'. I don't care what other people think.

I think that's really cute.

I call my married 26 year old son my bouncing baby boy. We wouldn't get along.

We might get along just fine. Your son is your baby. Your grandchild, however, isn't your baby so if you were to call him/her that your daughter-in-law might be similarly annoyed.

my MIL also calls our DS grand baby. I think it is strange, but I just deal with it. She is a lovely woman and there is no reason to get upset about it.
