DS and passenger seat belt violation

Anonymous
I had no idea that backseat passengers had to be buckled in.

Way back when I started driving, I was only allowed to have one friend in the car. I agree with the others that your son got stopped for something else, and got off with the no seatbelt ticket. You probably need to limit his driving. Young men are notoriously shitty drivers.

Just be happy your son was wearing his seat belt!

Who's going to pay the increase in your son's car insurance premium?

Besides the fact that it's the law, it is so incredibly stupid to not buckle your seat belt no matter where you sit in a car. They save lives as well as major injuries. Explain to him that if he is driving, he is basically responsible for all of the passengers in the car. If there is an accident, whether he hits someone or someone hits him, he could be liable for those injuries. The duty is on him. He could be sued, etc. it's not a joke. And the reply "I am a safe and good driver, I am so careful" doesn't matter. You know many idiots are on the road, especially in the DMV area, you can't trust any of the other drivers not to speed, run a stop sign, cut you off, etc.
