| Oh and "grittiness of the urban campus" is also heelaaarious!!! |
| OP, we are all dying to know what you decided!! Please don't leave us hanging! |
Sorry to keep you waiting. Finally after a lot of deliberation, reflection and meditation my DS decided to attend GZ. It was a very long process and very dificult decision for our familly. As parents we still have doubts about his decision and we still are uncertaint is the right one but we support him 100% I would like to thank all the people in this forum that help us with their opinions and comments which are invaluable and crucial to help make the right decisions. Good luck to all and thanks again! |
Congratulations!! It sounds like you truly let your son go with his gut about the place. I know you mentioned that he liked GZ better for a number of reasons. My son also had the same gut feeling between these schools during his visit. He felt the boys at GZ were more welcoming and the boys at GP were...well, I probably should go there because I don't want to start another chain of snarky remarks. But truly it is all about your gut and how each school feels when you are there. The shadow visits are so important for this. It is such an exciting time. Tonight we will take DS out to dinner and all wear purple He is so excited and proud to be an Eagle!!

| Congratulations! Still interested to know what classes GZ had that GP didn't offer...so curious |
| And so it begins. |
| GZ has very advance computer science classes and animation |
| We are happy that my son selected GZ, we heard that the majority of boys accepted in GP were legacy. |
So there were more than 50 legacies accepted into GP? That's 51+ out of 100. That number seems very high to me. I'm sure there are lots of legacies there. but not that many. |
| This is what we heard... For me also it is too much....but at least the 2 boys that I know got accepted were legacies.... |
|
My son was accepted and turn down GP for GZ. 5 boys from his school apply to GP. Two legacy got in all the others rejected.(not even WL)
This is year GP got 288 applications and offer 110 spots. I doubt that 50 legacies got in knowing that 60 are accepted for boarding ... |
| There are not 60 boarding students in 9th grade at GP. 25 at most, per grade. |
Isn't it amazing that people know so much that just isn't true. 110 admits seems a little low, if total student pop is still 500. You'd expect that number to be slightly higher than 125 to backfill upperclassmen who leave. 60 Total boarders seems about right or 15 per class. Prep still has a large number of applicants. |
| 288 |
Don't put too much stock in that number. All that matters is the 110. But the total applicants number has been inflated for decades. |
