It's an inch same crap will be on the ground at 10am than it is now.

Huh? This doesn't even make sense. You from DC?

Not PP, but it's tiny amount of snow. Deal.

Yeah again, you're either not sending your kid in alone to walk or you're driving from out of state. My 9, 13, and 15 year olds walk to school alone.

Again most of the kids from the public housing near us where not on the bus today and many other days with even the slightest bit of bad weather. So I think it is inexcusable to use that as an excuse especially with all of the safety nets for poor families.

I live right next to an elementary school and haven't seen salt truck or plow. It's only reasonable to have school in these conditions if the streets can be cleared.

I don't think we can blame poor weather forecasting, I think Accuweather was calling for 2" of snow in DC today when I checked it yesterday morning, and some other sites said the same. 2" was what I was expecting this morning before I even checked the news again.

OP, did you grow up in Hawaii?

Well, ward 4 is Muriel's ward--at least you're seeing plow trucks, we got nothing.

Yup. The difference is night-and-day from last year.

Connecticut Avenue at Dupont Circle wasn't plowed as of 8am. Not a single foot of Mass from Md. to Dupont was plowed at 8am. There was already 2 inches on the ground the entire route.

People get over yourselves. There's an inch of snow on the ground. We are not in a blizzard.

North Capitol St is completely blocked by cars that can't get up the hill from Michigan Ave - there are maybe a hundred cars completely blocked, unable to move forward or backwards.

I live pretty close to the salt and snowplow depot near the Fort Totten Metro, and they usually do a great job in our neighborhood, but the side streets and main streets were a mess this morning. The snow is coming down pretty fast, and it was really cold early this morning, though. There are a couple of guys clearing sidewalks by my office downtown, and as soon as they get one end of the sidewalk clear, they have to start over at the other end because the snow is accumulating fast.

Drop off at our school was dangerous with no plowing at all, no shoveled sidewalks, kids falling, cars spinning out where kids were crossing streets.

On a positive note, my kid's class is studying weather right now, so this should be a great "teachable moment" day!

Not in all of DC. I live in SE and work in NW. My entire drive to work there was not one road plowed, cars sliding (including mine several times) and I saw several people slipping on the sidewalks and one person actually fall.

Yesterday I was laughing at those that were wondering if there would be a delay/closing but now I think they should have just closed. If they can't at least get the main roads plowed that's a huge problem!

So, this was Muriel's first chance to prove herself, and already we know she's not up to the job. F*ck you Muriel voters. Now we're screwed for the next four years.

What a bunch of complainers!
I'm sure you are also the first ones complaining when school is extended in summer because of the snow days.
I realize your routine is disrupted but you should be able to deal.
I walked and drove this morning and you can see fine. Just have to be careful and go slow.
Go late if you have to. MC and PG counties are much more spread out and have some rural areas.
It is a completely different scenario. Try living in upstate NY or Chicago. This is nothing.

Nothing at all in our neighborhood. Ward 3

It's not the same as major cities that experiences snow. This city shuts down with car and bus accidents with an inch of snow.
