Bullis

I believe Bullis has a lovely campus with great facilities. Although I considered it for DS, we decided not to apply because we did not believe the experience was any better than the experience he would have received at the public schools in our are (Whitman/BCC). Now, if I lived in PG, Howard or Frederick Counties and wanted a school with great facilities without driving downtown or to VA, I would pick Bullis. I just don't think for people who have access to the top public schools in MoCo, Bullis adds much value, unless your kids get an athletic scholarship.

Have you ever live in PG, Howard or Frederick? What is your basis for this comment?

Different poster, but it is not controversial that MoCo has better schools than those three named MD counties.

Howard and Frederick? Really? No, it is not known.

This could be outdated, but I thought it was a place where rich people sent their dumb sons.

People on this board are something else. You wonder why people without kids snipe at people on this board. I can tell you as someone who doesn't have children and who reads it for tips for the future - this is all quite sickening.

DCUM seriously makes me not want to have children in this city if what is represented on this forum is real.

Okay, whatever. MoCo is nationally known for great schools but it's not better than Howard or Frederick Counties. You won! Now leave us alone.

Just to clarify, PG is not known for having great public schools and the independent school options are limited, so Bullis is a serious option for those families who want a better experience for their kids. HoCo and FrCo have good schools but they are hit or miss and the options for independent schools in those counties are also limited. I have only lived in Bethesda but unlike my non-international neighbors, I travel outside the bubble and have friends throughout the state.

In what ways?

Lots of recruiting especially for football, basketball and lacrosse. Willing to take junior and senior transfers. Adding students form China as boarding students.

Tom Farquhar started the program to bring Chinese students to Bullis.

I'm not rich and I sent a daughter to Bullis. Bullis became co-educational 30 years ago.

It is nationally known for tutors and SAT prep classes... Not great schools.

I do believe Bullis is the first school to have two students from the same graduating class chosen as Jefferson Scholars.

The school where you send your son if he can't get into any place else...
