but his message was love, right?

Of course . God is love without comprise which cannot abide sin in its presence. Hence the life preserver and gift of Christs blood.

The teaching of Christ is that nobody gets to the father except through him. Do you accept it? And why?

Different poster. I accept that, but from a more metaphysical viewpoint . No one can reach that perfect good unless they become Christ-Like. Jesus Christ was our perfect example of unconditional love, compassion, kindness and ultimately, sacrifice. God in human form. How many of us would die for someone who didn't even like us? Someone who was undeserving? How many could forgive the way Jesus did?

I believe in Jesus as the Christ. I believe he came to earth to show us the way to perfect love. That makes me a Christian. However, I believe there are many, many paths to that same end. To God - the loving source of all that is good.

Nope. Nice try . Just admit you don't believe Christs teaching that he is the only begotten son of God who is the truth , the way and the life and that no man gets to the father except THROUGH him.

Don't be afraid to call him a loonatic if you do not accept that. He respects you more than the"Luke warm" spinners and word twisters.

I say this as gently as possible - Your words do not sound very Christ-like. I am a Christian because I am a follower of Christ. My spirituality does not require that I dismiss the beliefs of the others simply because they believe differently than I.

I can honor the Christ in all people.

My DH follows most of what Christ teaches.. love thy neighbor, do unto others.. etc... but he doesn't believe in the deity of Christ. He believes Jesus existed, was a good person, but is not the Son of God, conceived by the Holy Spirit, performed all the miracles, etc.. He calls himself an agnostic, maybe atheist.

Main stream Christian churches would not call a person who doesn't believe that Christ was the Son of God a "Christian".

Why would you follow a man who claims to be God, claims there is no way to heaven except through him and claimed to have been sent to die for the sins of the world and rise from the dead them ascend into heaven?

Wouldn't Buddhism make more sense for you?

Perhaps pp doesn't know much about Buddha and was raised in a very gentle Christian tradition that focused on the teachings of Jesus and not his miracles and pronouncements.

NP here, but I believe when Jesus said no one goes to heaven except through him, he meant because he saved humanity through his message and his acts (ending with his death and resurrection). I don't believe it translated to "no one goes to heaven unless they believe I existed"). So, I am a Christian and DO believe Jesus died and rose again, but I do not necessarily believe that ONLY Christians can go to heaven.

Is it really necessary to believe every-single-thing in the Bible in order to call yourself a Christian? Does it say that in the Bible somewhere, or is that a popular interpretation?

Cause there's some crazy shit in the Bible (creationism anyone?). If that's not a considered a miracle, I don't know what is! Are there some miracles we're allowed to doubt, and others not? In order to identify as a Christian that is.

I think of the miracles as the virgin birth, the resurrection and the ascension -in other words, only the stuff having to do with Jesus

I don't mean to be vulgar, but isn't it ALL crazy shit? Like, why is creationism any more impossible than a Virgin birth, or performing miracles, or rising from the dead? I think you have to believe the events, but not the exact specifics, because maybe people back then just didn't have the terminology to explain concepts that science has explained to us. A "day" to God perhaps was billions of years.

We have the terminology and the scientific understanding today and yet so many people rely the bible to get a complete understanding of life, when it was written for an ancient people in ancient times. Sure there is some wisdom in it, but there's wisdom in other ancient books too.

by God? If so, why did he wait so long to teach His people how to use it? and why didn't he mention this great coming blessing in the bible, the way he prophesized so many other things?

Another of God's mysteries.

not by god? Then who needs god?

By an intelligence . We have no idea but all historical evidence points to the God of Abraham , Moses and the Father of Christ.
