This, exactly. Its one thing to do the place settings and flowers and lights like in a magazine, but telling your guests what kind of shoes to wear is over the top (and if the location requires them to wear flats, then telling them to wear black tie is just stupid).

I live in the neighborhood of Panorama Farms. It's a beautiful beautiful setting but the barn is not fancy at all. Would be interesting to see how they make it a black tie venue. I'd get a fabulous pair of cowboy boots for the ceremony and heels for the reception.

fwiw my kids to go summer camp there and refer to it as "Mud Camp"!
