Something like lionbridge or leapforce might work for you. They are work at home Google search analyst/rater jobs and similar tasks.

Patient advocates, I hear, are on the rise.

Wealthy - but busy - folks often pay others to make sure that their family members are receiving adequate care and that they have a voice.

I was in a similar position as yours, and received several job offers. There are people who would rather hire a mature person who has spent time managing a household, rather than a younger person with no work or life experience. Look on Craigslist, Indeed, and in your local smaller newspaper for ads. As for your resume, Google "SAHM returning to work resume" or something similar for tips. You will probably need a functional resume rather than a chronological resume format. Good luck!

How hard is Excel to learn? I'd also like to go back into the workforce after staying home for 10 years. I know MS Word and Outlook but never used Excel. Lot of Admin positions in school look are database experience. Would a company/school be willing to train if the person seemed responsible, capable and willing to learn?

Other than the fact that Excel is a Microsoft product, and, therefore, crap, it's not hard to learn. If you want database experience, make sure you learn Access, too.

Honestly, I'd buy a copy of the Office suite and teach yourself at home or find an online course. Not hard to learn, and would put you on par (at least with respect to those skills) with other candidates. I can't imagine companies being willing to train on something like Excel or Access, since they're so widely-used, and because most people in the workforce have at least a working knowledge of them.

What skills do you have?

I have a sewing machine and started an Etsy store. Last year I made $26,000. Is that something you could do? If you find something to make and sell, you could work from home. It doesn't have to be a physical product; lots of graphic designers sell their services online.

All of the local community colleges offer Excel courses.
