LIVID here. Sigh, the things we are made to do just to get proper medical care. Everyone can thank Henry Hyde for this BS. (Thanks PP who gave me the Hyde Amendment, I was having a brain fart) PPs I'm sorry you had to go through that. A good part of my motivation for telling my story here, on Capitol Hill and in the Post was publicity. I figured if I, as someone who had been involved in the pro-choice movement for a long time, didn't realize what my health insurance did and did not cover, many, many other women wouldn't either.
Gay marriage and gay acceptance has been gaining wide acceptance across the country so the wingnuts seem to be doubling down on making abortion so difficult, inconvenient and inaccessible to everyone even when it is medically necessary. Makes me want to spit with rage too. |
| Question, NP here: wouldn't most of these plans cover much more, cost-wise, if the pregnancy was carried to term? so abortion is really just banned for political reasons? |
That's right. 100% political bullshit |
| LIVID here, pp yes you are correct. Abortion in virtually all cases regardless of viability of the pregnancy. It made no difference that my OB said that the pregnancy needed to end now. I might have made it to term only to deliver a baby that was stillborn or that would certainly die shortly thereafter. More likely is that I would have had the baby die in utero at some point down the road and either had to deliver a still born at 26 weeks or whenever it happened. |
Thank you! I am livid about this as well. |
Many pregnancies are elective, yet childbirth is covered. |
| Call your inurance company and ask for a copy of your "Schedule of Benefits". Either that or call and ask. |
As are Viagra and the rest of the ED drugs. |
