Racism isn't alive because of extremists, pundits, or activists. It is alive because there are ordinary people who make decisions about who to hire, who to pull over, and who to rent to based on skin color. And those people are not doing it to get back at Jesse Jackson or because the Klan told them to do it. Martin Luther King Said
Letter from a Birmingham Jail was a letter not about extremists but about the threat of moderates. http://www.africa.upenn.edu/Articles_Gen/Letter_Birmingham.html |
Yes. And she will crush old racists with her feet so that they DIE! Yay! Oprah!! |
Only the KKK are prejudiced -- you cannot be that dumb! |
OP here. No, racism won't die, but I do believe it will lessen as this generation dies off. In my own family, racism has been diluted through the generations. my grandparents were racist. They lived their entire lives in small, midwestern towns where it was incredibly rare to see anyone who wasn't white. Their only exposure to other races was from the evening news. My own parents have never considered themselves to be racist, but they used to oppose interracial marriage because it's "too hard on the kids". As a teenager, I guess I agreed with them. Then I grew up, left my small town, met people from all different backgrounds, and any inkling of racism eventually died. Now our family, our social circle, our church, and our school are all diverse. As a result, I really don't think my kids see color at all. Not even a little bit. Our world is much bigger than our grandparents' world. You are correct that the DC mindset regarding race is VASTLY different than the rest of the country. You don't find this diversity anywhere else. |
Lol...you can dilute toilet water a thousand times over and it'll still taste like shyt. Huh? Racism is not going anywhere anytime soon. Why not? Because people are different. So? So unless the democracy collapses and the government suddenly gives way to military rule and armed troops begin an aggressive attempt to reorganize society, going from house to house mandating that every home be comprised of a person of every race and color, racism will endure. Huh? Let me put it this way - what do you know about Koreans? Well...uh... Exactly. You don't live with any Koreans and you don't know the intricacies and eccentricities of their culture and experience so what are you going to rely on in order to accurately and appropriately assess Koreans? Well...uh... Exactly - you have nothing to rely on in order to accurately and appropriately assess Koreans so you'll be forced to rely on stereotypes and generalizations - which are the root causes of racism. Doesn't matter if you hate Koreans. Doesn't matter if you mean no disrespect in your assumptions of them and in your comments about them - racism isn't about hate its about ignorance. Oh. Yeah...oh. Well...uh... Exactly. So since you don't live with em |
