How many kids with very high WPPSI scores WERE accepted at B/G/S/(M) last year?

What do they consider "significant." It sounds like there was a rise in the number of applicants in a time when we all thought with the economic situation that there would be a drop or status quo.

Apparently the applications for 6th grade at sidwell doubled this year... of couse, as a result of the Obama's decision to send their kids there

For those similar to PP, what school did you choose? Aside from the "fit" which we know is important, what was uniquely appealing to you about the school you chose?

My kid got into GDS, no connection, highly educated parents, only one working FT, other home with the kids. Maxed-out test scores. No financial aid, but not likely to be major donors either. SAH parent doesn't have a history of school volunteering but is obviously available and a can-do kind of person. That's pretty much the profile I see with new families whose kid(s) start in K or PreK. First kid admitted is almost always verbal and interesting (or funny) and is very comfortable engaging with adults. My kid went to Montessori rather than a "feeder" preschool (true of another friend as well). Former AD also seemed to put a premium on parents who understood their kids -- of course all she had to judge that on was whether parental reporting fit with letters of rec and observations during playdates. But clearly you got points for realistic/insightful/non-generic description of your kid.
