Yup--they're great. Eaton, Stoddert. Eaton (for now) feeds Deal. I'd choose CP (Eaton) over GP because of metro access. |
| If money is no object, I'm guessing OP does NOT want to be near Metro?! is that accurate, OP? |
She wants walkable, though. Generally, folks who want walkable also want Metro. |
What?!?!?!?!?!? |
The OP stated the she would prefer public schools but did not rule out private. So if she doesn't want to mix with poor kids, I would still recommend Old Town and go private. It really is one of the best neighborhoods in the area and hits all the marks on OP's list. |
| I'm really interested in this too. NOVA for in-laws with a budget in the 8's or 9's. master on main, good resale and easily accessible to NW DC for childcare help. Would love some walkability and maybe a pool or backyard space for kids and us to hang out over there on weekends. |
I agree with you. I live in Old Town. But let's be real - J-H is not a good ES. I am house shopping for this very reason! |
Herp a derp. |
Ok, let's be real. J-H kids are overwhelmingly poor and black. That's why you (and your neighbors) won't send your kids there. That's what you mean by "bad" school. Or do you really think the teachers and staff are sub-par? Maybe they're not dedicated enough (even though they work longer days, Saturdays, and summer days to help the kids)? But to get back to the OP, Old Town is a wonderful neighborhood. |
Of course, OP is *probably* not going to visit EVERY SINGLE FUCKING NEIGHBORHOOD IN THE GREATER METROPOLITAN DC AREA. Christ. |
|
Capitol Hill--either in-bounds for Brent or Maury.
<<drops mike>> |
Because you were mugged? |
That's the right answer in the real world but you know DCUM hates the Hill! Don't even bother. |
NP here: I had the same thoughts, both that Capitol Hill is perfect and that I shouldn't bother recommending it. But I also figured that if the OP had schools first on her list, she was not thinking of the Hill. Great schools, but it takes more thought than some other neighborhoods. And middle school is still a question mark. |
What? Why? I would assume the reverse. |
