Where would you move with a budget of around 5 million?

Did I miss something? Cause I don't think this buyer wants to live in the boonies and sweat 66 or I270 every day like the rest of the tolerant people

I don't think "budget" and "5 million" can be co-exist.

Hey, OP can have the primary house in DC (worth $2MM) and skip out on the Frederick/Leesburg house. That would leave a smallish farm (relatively) nearby, huge tracts of land in W.Va. or Pennsylvania, and a beach house.

This house has many beds/baths, pool, tennis -zoned for spring hill/cooper/langley. Less than 5 miles to metro before silver line is operational. 1.7m. Taxes are lower than DC or MD and you might just be outside of the Mclean Special tax district. DH and others like the oasis effect of Mclean/Great Falls/potomac. Some find it relaxing and no one likes paying more than you have to for the same thing.

My primary house would be one of the largest houses in Leesburg/Frederick. Better to be a huge fish in a small pond that one of many sharks in the tank. I'd have a maid and a nanny there.

I'd have a farm out in western Frederick/Loudoun that could double as a mountain retreat. There'd be a couple of outside staff there of course.

I'd have a nice condo or small TH in DC, so I could stay there when needed. I might have a half staffer here, split between here and my primary house.

I'd have a beach house in Rehoboth. Staff would simply travel with me.

I'd manufacture some ancestral holdings of hundreds, if not thousands, of acres in West Virginia that could be tenanted. I'd only show up there once a year or so, though.

I think I've got all my bases covered here -- I'd spend maybe $750k on the DC and Rehoboth places, and $1.25MM on my ancestral and primary places.

I think you are vastly overestimating what $5M would buy.
