Stop with the weird and trendy spellings, already. This is a nice name when spelled normally, e.g. Lindsay. And for OP, if you are going to use this boy's name for your girl (it is not really unisex), it is Layton or Leyton or if you're an Australian tennis aficionado then you might consider Lleyton.

+1. Okay for a middle name for a BOY if the name is in the family. Otherwise it's pretentious and reminds me of white trash trying to sound classy. Leighton was the last name of my BF in high school. In retrospect, he was a total jerk. Also reminds me of Lord Leighton:
