Good school districts zip codes please

Anonymous wrote:In Montgomery County you can't go by zipcode. One zip can feed to different schools with very different "desirability". For example, the zip code 20852 has homes that feed to Walter Johnson (Desirability Factor 10+ for most people), while others feed to Wheaton (DF 1- for most). So be careful.
Note: Of course everyone has their own assessment of desirability. I'm reflecting what seems to be the predominant opinion I read/hear. And I myself chose against WJ for my kids.

Curious why did you choose against WJ?

PP is an ass.

Now now. there really is no need for name calling. go to sleep early tonight so you can wake up in a better mood tomorrow. Not PP. the PP you are so fond of is correct. It is Walt Whitman H.S. The elementary schools and Pyle M.S. are part of the Whitman cluster. All of the high schools in MCPS have schools feeding into them that are part of each high school's cluster.

I agree with this - especially if you don't mind the longer commute. If I were you I would also look at Wooton cluster if you don't mind the commute. Also, if you don't mind the commute and you are commuting to SE DC - you could think about Going East - friends commute in from Howard County on the Marc train or via drive to metro - and they have very, very good schools with housing stock that is not nearly as expensive (MoCo and Fairfax are certainly not the only game in town)

You will also be closed out of alot of WJ unless you want a smaller house/smaller lot in Kensington/GP (20895, 20896, 20852)

Also this site allows you to search for homes by school:

Remind me again how Maryland is so "progressive"? So many ways to make sure you don't have to mingle with the poor.

SUBJECTIVE QUESTION
What is good to you, what you are looking for -- for your child is different that what others may seek.
List what you are looking for
Have folks tell you what they like about their specific schools
otherwise you will get pages of arguments about test scores, FARMS percentages and a bunch of other I'm better than you nonsense that is not helpful AT ALL

Or you may find something in the Old Farm/Tilden Woods section of North Bethesda (20852).

20852 is now officially known as N. Bethesda?

Rockville to those who aren't real estate agents or moved here 5 minutes ago. But yes, to some it's NoBe.

Also, Tilden Woods and Old Farm are totally Rockville, I don't think even the most aggressive agents try to label them as North Bethesda.

Personally, I call this area North Bethesda merely to distinguish it from downtown Rockville. I find it frustrating that Montgomery County has so many places that aren't real towns. Hell, Bethesda isn't even a real town (although Rockville is, and it doesn't include 20852).

Some high schools districts in MD to consider are Whitman, Churchill, Walter Johnson, BCC and in VA you should look at McLean, Langley, Madison, and Oakton.

kids couldn't handle Whitman? how so?

wtf?
