What does "homely" mean to you?

homely -- plain, ugly, bare
homelike -- seeming like home

The modern definition is ugly.

I actually think this is wrong. She's not unattractive just not made up.

Homely is more like the mayim bialik pic above. Big nose, bad skin, uneven features etc.

For kids, it's harder but we all have seen kids who aren't cute! Thin hair, small eyes, blotchy skin - etc

For kids I think of the portrayal of Laura Inglis Wilder in Little House on the Prairie - when Melissa Gilbert was a kid she was quite homely, cute, but homely.
