+1 we do too in Arlington! |
+1 I didn't think pp understood your original post about Janney either. Umm - peace out |
If you look closely at specific neighborhoods in NOVA, you will find exactly what you seek. I found the PP's link to the arlington school system's diversity breakout very interesting. I am happy my DCs will be entering the schools in our pyramid. |
Pp back again. Now I'm convinced that you're not only simple-minded, but also that you are not actually old enough to have children ready for schools. Your persuasion skills and language usage sound like those of my 8yr old. |
We're talking about DC, not Mars, honey and that's simply not true. You people already in a school get real preachy when it comes to others that have struck out. You're not in our shoes and have no dog in the fight. The reality is many more kids WILL NOT get in to a kick ass charter, particularly because of urban pop. overgrowth. So, rather than screw with my kids future, I'm moving on (hopefully) greener and greater pastures. BTW- your most kick ass charter pales in comparison to a VA school. Sorry, but the stats don't lie. |
I feel really sorry for your 8 year old. You're teaching that poor soul that when someone's point of view kicks your ass, you get insulting as a means of damage control. Don't try to add substance because you would fail miserably and are way too shallow to be capable of it. What's sad is your sarcasm and insult was so lightweight, it's obvious you're (at best) an 8 year old. Get off mommy's computer, junior! |
| "Lack of quality options for my kids" - sheesh. Good riddance. |
| Pp here I just realized this must be a fake post to get a rise out of people. The original post seemed real. But the subsequent posts are either someone else, or it reveals the OP is very immature, to say it politely. |
The lifestyle you describe is available to a tiny, tiny minority of DC residents. Who can really walk to museums? A handful of downtown and SW residents. Everyone else needs to drive or metro. The distance and time to get to the museums is shorter from most points Arlington vs. say, NW DC. Or, for that matter, NE DC. |
It's so easy to think that those who have it worse than you must be somehow at fault for their lesser fortune. And should your children's education be an endurance sport or an entitlement? |
+1 This is so true! The new breed of folks that are moving into this city are annoying as Hell. As a biracial person, I know all too well about the "diversity facade" that these posers project, but deep down inside they're worst than the most racist bigot that you encounter in the south. In NOVA you will have more diversity from people who actually live it and not preach it. I find that most of the hipsters in DC only surround themselves around other white hipsters. They proclaim an ideology that they themselves don't even follow. Hyprocrites! |
I'm real, honey. You must be a vegan who doesn't shave and is insincere about diversity. Instead of attacking me, maybe some self-reflection is in order. I'm asking people about how greener the grass really is in VA for a city dweller tired of the bullshit and whose kids come first. Selfish fakers should just ignore the post if being called out is too upsetting. The fact remains that for someone in an urban part of the city, there's not a lot if any options for children to have what I believe is truly a satisfying childhood. A shitty patch of green turf and shitty school just so I can walk to the neighborhood watering hole and perhaps a museum is not worth the downsides TO ME. I'm aware there is no perfect place, but want to hear from NoVa residents who've been in my shoes how they've faired. Angry unfriendly hostile DC residents which are growing in numbers (living on top of each other for too long will do that to you) should move the hell on (to their watering hole or their meds- whichever is closer). Just please stop shoving your misery down our throats! |
This! I want to hug you, PP. Realness- such a strange thing on DCUM, but so nice when it rears its head. Hope I see you on the VA side of the Potomac! |
Ah yes, I've become very familiar with the hipsters invading DC - they had a Bob Marley poster in college, spent a spring break in Costa Rica, and love to eat at sushi restaurants - that's the extent of their diversity in their lives. Bleh |
I live in Vienna - recently moved here from DC. 90% of the families we meet here moved out from DC for all the reasons OP stated. Not that uncommon |
