I think that they are both equally terrible and expensive with crap meat/poultry and "fresh" seafood I wouldn't touch. Neither ever seems to have enough staff on hand. Why are there 15 check out lanes and only two people ever working? I've also seen SN employees at both and they seem to be not able to place items in my bag without lots of help thus dragging out an already horrible experience. It's a nice gesture to hire them though. Lesser of two evils: Giant

The biggest difference is the deli counter. Giant carries Boar's Head meat. Safeway has pre-sliced turkey, ham, cheese.

I love Safeway because I get gas points for Exxon Mobil on my Safeway card. I have been saving a lot of money on gas. Plus I like the Safeway app-- it has a ton of coupons that you can add right to your grocery list on the app. I can't speak to Giant because I never shop there (Safeway is much closer to my house).
