Can you provide some objective details? I am applying for my daugher. |
| Any more SR parents want to share? Is this happening across all grades and all subjects? |
| I think you have the concept of a flipped classroom all wrong. in a flipped classroom, the teacher tapes his/her lectures and the kids watch them at night. Then, the next day in class, they spend the time that they would normally be lectured to, actually talking about the information, working through problems and digesting what they learned the night before. |

Issue with administration? The school with the winner of "best head of school"?

Ha Ha! You clearly do not understand how the winners are picked if you think that actually means something. |
| On administration - fan of overall head of school. Not a big fan of the lower school administration, lots of talk of innovative teaching methods - far too many assessments and testing, formal and informal assessments this year. Hopefully, they will tone it back down next year Lots of really great teachers in LS, some really amazing, - just wish they could just teach more. |
| Current SR mom here who had daughter in lower school who is now in middle school. The middle school does not feel like a traditional middle school, especially 5th grade because they keep them separate and have small advisory groups. I have heard nothing about the reverse teaching and it didn't seem to be taking place in lower school or so far in middle school. All of the girls and most parents really love Mr Lawrence, head of lower school. He is so kind and thoughtful to the girls and most of the teachers are wonderful. Middle school starting in 5th is great fun for the girls and they have a new program starting next year bringing in laptops for each girl in 5th and 6th that will eventually spread to 7th and 8th. They also have a new band and orchestra and those teachers are wonderful - my daughter loves them. We are getting a new head of middle school next year and she is reported to be great by all who have met her (I have not) so we are excited. More than anything I really think SR families are very welcoming and a lot of fun - my daughter can't wait to welcome in new girls next year the way she was welcomed when she began. We have never sent our children to public schools so I have no point of comparison on community but I can't imagine a better one than SR for a girl to learn and have fun. Just my two cents as a current middle school parent. |
