I'll add things happen for a reason.

My DC didn't get in. 35 ACT, 36 Superscore, Legacy, several APs, full pay, many ecs and volunteer work. We visited toured officially once and unofficially 2 times. Legacy was told since they graduated at every reunion that admissions would look fondly on the applications of legacy if they met academic standards. DC was even told to apply for a prestigous scholarship because of their test scores. Neighbors who are alumni were also told the same thing. We were shocked when the local alumni couldn't be bothered to meet with DC and legacy and nieghbor were surprised.

I am clueless. Good luck. Next kid is going the athletic route only.

you didn't mention grades. Gotta be something seriously wrong here.

There is something seriously wrong here and I don't know what it is.

Typos on the essays?

Possibly. If that would kill the dreams of a prestigous alumni, DC must have spelled Washington wrong. Lol.

Does the kid have a felony? Must have blown the interview big time.

19:50 We aren't a bunch of sourgrapes over here. Things happen for a reason. It wasn't a good fit for DC after all. It was a great undergrad experience.

It is very plain and simple. DC is over it.

Nevertheless, it is a mystery. You must have a clue. It could be instructive to others.

Haha! 1. No. 2. Wasn't granted the interview. So, yeah, there is that. Good luck!

Really - I don't. I was born in Asia because my parents were serving but, I am not Asian. If I said that was the reason, I'd be lying because I don't know. DC also went to National Champs in their sport 5 years in a row. W&L REJECTED DC. It happens.

Could be yield protection then. They didn't think DC would go to W&L.

DS was also rejected by W & L this year with a very high SAT in the RD round. He was also told to apply for the Johnson Scholarship -- a full tuition, room and board scholarship awarded to 10% of the student body. The kids I know who are going all applied ED but DS had some reservations so he didn't want to apply ED (guess the admissions team figured that one out).

The school has loads of money and very good outcomes in terms of job placement. I'm surprised it isn't more diverse with the Johnson Scholarships.

If this "yield protection" is the reason, they lost a child who wore a W&L onsie and had envisioned attending their entire life. DC didn't get into another legacy school either.

Is it yield protection if the interviewer won't even interview DC? Who knows what they told W&L. Frankly, I don't care for a school who claims to have an honor code but lied to loyal alumni for decades.

Consider yourself luck DC didn't get in. The school isn't as good as the posters on this board would lead you to believe.
