oh DCUM, you never fail me

| Your neighbors don't care about the environment. It has nothing to do with their wealth. Move to another neighborhood where people share your values. |
At least they recycle, right? Because wealthy people don't. |

I know the OP, she is my friend!!
I walked into our garage one evening when they were over to dinner and I see just her feet sticking out of my oversized AAA trash can. She was swimming through my trash and I just though that since she was one of the poors I like to invite over for a proper meal, she was trying to salvage some of my organic chicken breast meat and fois gras that had gone bad in the fridge. I quickly exited the garage to spare her the embarrassment dumpster diving. If only I had known it was my empty tampon box she was after! |
| Because they rich , B$&$*! |

Thank you for posting this, but the true believers will ignore this bit of logic. Most people who understand economics and actually know how materials are produced (vs. your average dc nonprofit exec) understand that recycling actually does very little, if anything for the environment. |
I was stuck behind a commercial trash truck today (this is trash and recycling day in our neighborhood) and watched as the trash guys picked up every trash can and every recycling bin and tossed all contents into the same garbage truck. Usually this company sends separate garbage and recycling trucks, but maybe they were a little behind this week because of the holiday. |
| I take my blue bin out weekly but it's empty! Don't want the neighbors to think I don't recycle. |
Ha!
|
But what do the collection people think? "Oh, here's that crazy house that puts out the empty bin." |
THIS, minus the sarcasm. |
|
Maybe because your rich neighbors don't create as much garbage as you. Maybe they don't fill their bins with plastic water bottles because they drink filtered water, don't have a bunch of food wrappers because they are smart enough not to buy individually wrapped junk, and don't order take out every night with a million food containers?
Or they don't give a shit. Either way, it doesn't matter. Recycling is not as effective as people naively believe. |
No, only your post. |
I really don't care what the collectors think coz I don't ever see them or talk to them. I do see neighbors so I have to keep up the charade. |
