Two Amys

Suppli (al telefono), is Roman. and Arancini is Siciliano from Sicily.
Sette is in Dupont Circle, on Connecticut avenue near the Benetton store.

By far my favorite pizza place too. BTW Two Amy's was listed as one of the top 20 pizza places in the US according to yahoo news last year.

In Naples, yes. I went to Da Michele recently, the mutha of all Neopolitan pizza places, and it was crispy on the edges and soggy in the middle.

I think that people believe the hype rather than their taste buds and their personal experiences with 2 Amy's. Everyone says its great so people say its great even though its objectively just okay imo.

Anonymous wrote:Two Amys pizza is as close to pizza from Rome as I've eaten in DC. Maybe there's a place I haven't tried, but this is pretty authentic. They even have DOC ingredients. Their suppli are ridiculous - haven't found other restaurants that make them. And at restaurants in Italy kids run all over the place all the time and there's no rush to get in and out quickly, for what it's worth ... I know we're not in Italy, but it is an Italian restaurant. I wish I could eat there all the time.

Well, ugh. Italian here. Romans aren't exactly known for pizza.

I'll stick with Neapolitan pizza, thanks. Pupatella all the way!

the size and what they are stuffed with also comes into play...

Or, you know, maybe your taste buds are kind of bland.

Try Vace in Cleveland Park. It's been here for 25+ years and is still just as awesome.

I truly don't understand the Vace thing. I have never been so bored by pizza.

Ooh, I love Vace.

I prefer Italian-style pizza and don't really care for the crust of Pete's. It is NOTHING like John's of Bleeker so I don't get everyone comparing it to NY style.

John's has become a real tourist trap - ever since the nineties. And it's a cross between NY pizza and Italian pizza, so I don't know what you're talking about.

I love John's of Bleecker! A real coal oven.

But really any pizza you get at the Jersey shore is fine by me.

Also love John's in NY. Vace's crust is insufferable.

I don't get why people adore 2 Amys either. I think it's just really average. Honestly, I can make better pizza at home in the oven and I'm no chef.

I like Comet, Matchbox, Pulcinella in Mclean, Siciliano in Great Falls, RedRocks & Radius far more than 2Amys. Plus I don't like the officious staff at 2Amys.
