If only Obama had shown something called "leadership" on financial matters at some point in the last four years, maybe we wouldn't be here. He needs to bring people together, not engage in divisiveness and the blame-game, which is all he seems to be good at doing (well, execpt for reading a teleprompter). Please, Mr. President, LEAD this country for goodness sakes! |
Yes, yes, it's all Obama's fault. The GOP in the House and Senate wasn't at all obstructionist. It's this kind of echo-chamber thinking that contributed to this year's massive defeat. I for one encourage PP and all like-minded Republicans to continue along th is path. |
You must not know how payroll withholding tables work. |
What? |
| What does RIF stand for? |
Reduction in force-- the govt term for layoffs. I find it very hard to believe that sequestration will happen, or at least that it will happen to the degree that it will actually cause layoffs, but you could probably lose a lot of money betting that the House Rs would be willing to act reasonably. |
Refusing to roll over and play dead while Obama ran ruff shod without any consideration for the oppositions position does not equate to obstructionism. |
| Refusing to budge an inch on your position because you signed some moronic anti-tax pledge does not equate to leadership. |
OK, Obama wants to raise taxes on the wealthiest Americans, and the Republicans do not want to raise taxes at all. You tell me what the middle ground is? Now which side supports that middle ground. |
Not suggesting that is leadership, as currently there is a VOID that the President should be filling, but he hasn't. |
No republicans will not raise taxes on the rich, but everyone else is fine. |
If you think that VOID is getting Republicans to like him, sorry but that's not leadership at this point. He's not a camp counselor, and your party burned through any right to be coddled. Leadership now is about forcing Congress to stick to the budget deal they signed, no matter how politically unpopular it becomes. And he holds the cards. |

Just want to point out to all those saying "good for you DC/feds, bring on the Fiscal Cliff" that it would hit virtually every American with significantly higher taxes. The sequestration of govt spending is only a part of the 'cliff' that hits in January. It also includes the AMT, expiration of the Bush tax cuts, payroll tax reduction, and various other spending/revenue provisions. If you collect a legitimate paycheck, you will be among those falling over the 'cliff'.
Also, if you think all those cuts under sequestration won't affect you, you've apparently never driven a car on a highway, tried to get a SS number for a child, applied for a fed. loan, had a parent on SS of Medicare or Medicaid, had a loved one in a hospital or health facility, visited a national park, or purchased meat or produce or an imported product. Quite a life you've got there! |
The "budget deal" was to kick the issue down the road, and now we're at the end of that road. If Obama had only offered a budget that anyone in his own party would have even supported, maybe he would be holding a card or two now. He may have been re-elected, but that does not mean his lack of record or lack of leadership is somehow erased. Oh wait, maybe it does for people like you who pick-and-choose facts.... |
