My boss invited me to lunch. What are the odds I am getting fired?

This is not firing, but prologue to firing unless you can find ways to add to the bottom line. Use the advance notice to think through your response to this scenario. (And though I don't think you're getting promoted, go ahead and think through that as well).

Why would they do this at lunch?

I thought the public location would discourage the person from freaking out. Isn't this why they joke that you should break up with someone over a meal or in an otherwise very public place?

I got fired once in a public place and that didn't prevent me from freaking out and laying into my boss.

This is to placate you. But they won't know if you will go postal later anyway.

Oh, no. Doesn't sound good.

In between bites of your dessert or sips from your coffee can you just type yes for fired, no for not, or x for something in between?

Either OP is busy moving her stuff to a new office (promotion) or she's lost access after she had to turn in her notebook (fired).

Come on OP. You're killing us here.
