| I guess, as adults, we should be so grateful to have an hour for lunch at work when our kids only get half of that, if even that. The rush of the lunch is obviously due to lack of space in the cafeteria. It's definitely not because the kids are rushing back to any pressing academic work. I guess it doesn't matter. It's easier to come up with reasons to justify this whole lunch/school thing since everyone's doing it. Just keep drinkin' the Kool Aid. |
neither here nor there, but at my fed agency, we are only permitted 1/2 hour for lunch (and were told by HR that the two 15 minute breaks during the day that everyone talks about were a myth.) |
But for kids on free/reduced lunch, bringing lunch really isn't a choice. So they are forced to wait in line and gulp down their lunch. They're the ones who probably need it the most. What I have found though is that after the first couple of weeks, kids get pretty good at eating quickly. |

Hahahah... Very funny. Yes, I agree. They kids do become very proficient at quickly eating their food. What great social and dietary skills our kids are learning at such a young age. USA Today has a great article on this very issue.
