Eczema not going away!

OP, you keep saying you're "trying to avoid" dairy, soy, and eggs. If you haven't eliminated them completely for at least two weeks, you may not see a change. My DD has GI issues with daIry but soy and corn bring on eczema. There are no "half ways" with elimination - I have to study all labels for dairy (casein, whey) and soy. I've Learned that avoiding "obvious" corn is enough for DD though. Dairy can take 2 weeks to leave your system.

OP here. No thats not what I said at all. I said that I was vegan for 7 weeks and I noticed no change in my DD's skin. Vegan= no dairy/no eggs. Yes I admit that it was impossible to stay away from soy when I was vegan for 7 weeks, so now I'm trying the PP's suggestion of staying away from wheat/corn/peanuts/soy to see if it makes a difference.

OP, you mentioned using free and clear detergent, but my son's skin turned out to be really allergic to Tide Free and Clear. Ironically, he did fine with Dreft and is also okay with Arm & Hammer's free and clear.

While the detergent is not the only cause of his eczema (i've had problems with it too my entire life), it was the only thing we could find the most direct link. We ended up using Cloderm which has steroids in it to finally knock out the worst of the eczema spots on his skin but it does come back occasionally.

Hi! I know this is an old post but my 3 month old has severe eczema and its heartbreaking! I hate that these treatments involve steroids. Having a hard time, did you have any luck with this OP?

11:45 - this is a PP that also had to deal with serious eczema for my 3 month old.

Really, try to get over your fear of steroids. It was the *only* thing that helped my daughter. She was so itchy she scratched herself bloody and ended up with secondary infections and big patches of oozy areas. You don't want that to happen. Speak to pediatric dermatologist if you are concerned, and they will let you know the amount of steroid cream that would start to cause concern, and you can see the amount you need to keep the eczema under control is MUCH MUCH less.

We just needed the stronger steroids for about 1 or two. Once her skin healed, DD was fine and wasn't constantly scratching anymore. Now, we just put a tiny dab on occasionally when a breakout is about to start.

But if you really want to avoid steroids, I would try going on a complete elimination diet if you are breastfeeding. No dairy, wheat, soy, peanuts, treenuts, shellfish and eggs. Try this for *at least* 2 weeks, best if you can do it for four weeks. Obviously, this means no formula either.

And you have to try to avoid hidden dairy too. That means reading the ingredient list and avoiding ingredients like, casein, whey, and curds.

Here is a list: http://www.kellymom.com/store/freehandouts/hidden-dairy01.pdf

I saw 2 pediatric dermatologists, and they both said that eczema is related to food sensitivities only about 30% of the time. But if you really don't want to use steroids, I would start here.

Bumping this. I found this blog from a British dad of an eczema suffering girl extremely informative: https://www.google.com/amp/s/oureczemastory.wordpress.com/2014/10/25/millies-eczema-diary/amp/?client=safari

I ordered the probiotic cream off of the Roche Posay website for my own eczema and it's been very promising so far.
