Yes

Many thanks. No letter of any kind here, though.

No letter here either. We did get a phone call from the assistant principal but I have no idea about CogAT scores. We were told both letters would be going out this week. (Not sure what happens if school is delayed - maybe the letters get delayed by a day? No idea.)

I was told last week that starting this year, a COMPOSITE score of 132 would be needed to be in the pool. This is unlike previous years where score of 130 or higher (or whatever the cutoff was for any given year) in any ONE of the cogAT sections or the NNAT, would place the child in the pool.

Hope this helps.

is a 132 score supposed to approximate a 132 iq? just curious.

I am not sure so sure about this reply. I was told that NNAT scores ( if administered in 2nd grade) would NOT be considered for admission to the pool. However, NNAT scores can be submitted as part of the AAP package.

What was the source of this information? That would be a big change, but would definitely cut down on the number of files the committee has to look through.

Wow, that would be counter to what is on the FCPS website.

Can someone point me to a link on the FCPS site that contadicts this, please? Note we are talking NNAT administered in second grade.

Is this from a reliable source?

What is the situation surrounding this child?
Is the child a second grader, new to FCPS this year?

If I were a parent in doubt about the pool, I would simply prepare a parent referral. Then there is no question whether the NNAT II (given in 2nd grade) would be considered for the pool.

Parent referral forms are on the FCPS website:

If true, this is a much huger change than the other (NNAT not counting toward pool placement). Far,far fewer kids will land in the pool. Please provide source.
