Do you and you DH dress up for dinner at home?

I get dressing up if you are into fashion. However, as long as you look presentable (clean, no junked up old clothes) is all I really care about. At least at family holidays. Dinner at our house ranges from PJ's to jeans. I have always found dressing up to sit at someones home an odd thing. I get going out and dressing up, but not to sit in a house! To each their own.

My Iranian relatives ( the women) get VERY dressed up when we have dinners at our home or going to someone's home. Jewelry, heels, full makeup, dresses. But when we go to restaurants, even very nice ones, they don't tend to dress as much. They look nice, but more low-key. My husband says in his culture it's all about entertaining at home, that's why. I think it's weird.

We wear clothes. And I try to make the kids wash their hands before dinner. That's it.

We only dress nicer if going out or if company is coming over. Otherwise, you'll often find us in our PJs or in the clothes we wore all day.

I went to a boarding school from the time I was five (mother died when I was four and father in military). We had to be nicely dressed for all meals. Later on we were allowed to wear jeans for breakfast on Saturday morning and lunch. On Sunday, no jeans. Today, I do not allow my children to wear dirty clothes to dinner and they have to wash face, hands, comb hair. I have to look at them and they have to look at me and I think we should always look as good as possible.

Unless sick, no pajamas or sweats.

You needed a singing nun to make you play clothes out of the boarding school drapes.

Are you trying to demonstrate that trolls have below-average intelligence and are unfunny? Because you're doing a good job!

Why are people attacking this person? So she does things different. Who cares? Way to be tollerant.

This thread cracks me up. Once a month, we have "naked" brunch: we all come to the table in our underwear and eat chocolate covered donuts with sprinkles. I think other than Christmas, it is my kids' favorite event.

I'm sorry, was it too pedestrian to make reference to an American musical? I suppose our humor must look its best too, so I promise that I will use only opera going forward.

Don't worry, OP. The D(S)CUMbaggers are pretty low-brow. They'll never get it.
