Moms who went to public schools

Anonymous
I attended a mix of public and Catholic schools growing up. But Catholic was basically an alternative to public (not a step up); I think there were actually more Catholic elementary schools than public (and even by high school, it was still under $1000/year)! Anyway, I went on to a top 25 school for undergrad (where I was miserable, but graduated phi beta kappa), and UVA for law school (where I couldn't have been happier). And I love my job now. I'm a firm believer in public education as long as the school is decent and safe; that's the route my kids will take. I just had too many bad (social) experiences in college with kids who were the products of fancy private schools. I'm sure there are plenty of happy, well-adjusted, down-to-earth people that come out of those schools as well. I'm just jaded and would rather move to be in a good public school district (did, actually) than send my kids to private schools.
