Where are these folks who don’t struggle in their lives? If you are one of these magical people, it’s entirely possible someday you will struggle too. Have you ever had a friend or family member struggle? Some people in prison had very hard lives as children. Their parents were not able to provide for them in anyway or were absent from their lives. Or unfortunately, were abusive/neglectful. That doesn’t give people an excuse for doing things that are harmful or hurting others, of course. But as Christians we believe Jesus saves everyone who accepts Him into their heart. Nobody is beyond the love of Jesus Christ. The Parable of the Lost Sheep 15 Now the tax collectors and sinners were all gathering around to hear Jesus. 2 But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.” 3 Then Jesus told them this parable: 4 “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? 5 And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders 6 and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ 7 I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent. |
“Be prepared that following me may cost you relationships, because not everyone will agree.” That’s what many Christian’s think Matthew 10:34 means. Jesus doesn’t want people to disagree and be divided. Jesus is called the Prince of Peace, but in Matthew 10:34 he warns Christians about division. Christians generally believe that Jesus offers peace with God, but the decision to follow Jesus can create conflict in a world where people disagree about him. John 14:6- many Christian traditions have understood this as an exclusive claim about salvation: that reconciliation with God ultimately comes through Jesus Christ, not through other religious paths. But, Jesus also commanded Christians to live peacefully with others whenever possible. Disagreeing about religion does not justify hostility or violence. The existence of religious differences does not mean Christians should seek conflict. Apostle Paul writes: “If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.” Most Christians, and my church, and my Christian brothers and sisters say: “Jesus is the only way to God, but Christians should still love, respect, and live peacefully with people of other faiths.” There are also differences among Christians about what John 14:6 means for people who have never heard of Jesus, or how God’s grace works outside the visible Church. Christians should oppose peace or seek conflict with people of other religions. Jesus commands us to love our neighbor. Jesus doesn’t say love your Christian neighbor; He says neighbor, point blank. “Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.” (Matthew 5:44, KJV) “Love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back.” (Luke 6:35) This was a radical teaching in the ancient world. Jesus isn’t merely saying, “Don’t attack your enemies.” Jesus is saying Christians should love their enemies, pray for them, do good things for them, and forgive them. |

That should be Christians should not oppose peace, or seek conflict with people of other religions. Posting before drinking coffee is a real problem. Have a peaceful day! |
