What happened here? [VA]

I deliver meals to seniors and have been to many hoarder's houses. On a hoarding scale of 1 to 10, this is a low 1. The attic is full, but lots of people have unorganized overstuffed attics.

If you haven't seen a real hoarding situation, I guess you could think this is hoarding. But there are way too many still "functional" areas.

I looked at the photos before seeing the hoarding comments, and didn't even think of the term hoarding. Just dirty, messy and neglected.

You have to sign in to view the listing? I've never seen that in years of using Zillow.

I saw all the photos on OP's Zillow link this morning. Now Zillow only shows the street photo and no other of the interior. And Zillow now says "Off market".

However, Realtor.com still has the photos and indicates it's currently for sale for $920,000:

And further down on the Zillow link, it says the listing was removed 6/8/2026 (originally listed 6/4/2026). Maybe Realtor.com hasn't caught up yet with the removed status.

The cars in the garage will be packed with junk and scrap, and the garage itself overflowing with more junk. That's why there's no listing photos of the garage or the cars.

I'm guessing that one of the heirs (the son?) moved in after Dad died or even to take care of dad, and family let him stay in the house and he turned it into a hoarder's nightmare. The kid's photo in the bedroom is dated, it reminds me of a school photo from 1995. I'm sure there were no kids or pets living in the house, you're just seeing something left from a long time ago.

Am guessing the family finally got the sibling out and don't want to deal with the house so it's listed as it is.

Well done, PP, I can buy this explanation.

It's back listed again with a pending sale.

Looks like some of the photos were removed from Zillow and Relator. If you’re like me and coming late to the thread, Redfin has them all:
