Obviously Vandy, but which others? Duke, Rice, Columbia, Princeton?

Is this person a musician or quarterback? If not, then TO is not actually meant for them

Mine got into Columbia, Northwestern, and Vanderbilt TO, and was neither of those things.
ORM girl.
Private high school.

A feeder high school is a hook you know

A private HS is not a hook for test-optional candidates. Come on.

It most certainly is if it’s a known feeder private and the candidate is full-pay

But they had strong education- associated EC and good art portfolios. Most other private school kids admitted to vandy with more popular majors had very high test scores and strong leadership. Tufts bfa fine arts also an easier admit for TO. At our private, we were told washu, emory etc like to see test scores...

Emory yes, WashU is just like Vandy. Don't submit if under 1530.

What a farce. WashU and Emory are the poster children for obfuscating their low SAT scores.

WashU
1,847 freshman total
Only 538 enrolled freshman submitted an SAT. Of those 270 scored above 1530.
1,309 enrolled freshman did not submit an SAT.

It is safe to say that 85% of enrolled freshman are below this fictional median of 1540.

Emory is no better. They both pretend to have such high student test scores. Given Emory's history of publicizing false SAT scores, I guess this is the other way they try to pretend to be more selective than they really are.

Almost none take test-optional students who are not hooked. With no hook you need to be in range of the middle50%(ie above 25th%ile on the fall 2020 CDS, test required).

Uchicago has been TO forever, it works better there, though it remains mostly for hooked. Elsewhere, submit if no hooks and expect to not get in if not in range.

Uh, Vanderbilt?
