At least the Humanities Governor's School would be viable - lots of families - both parents and students - would want that. |

A lot of TJ kids have a strong interest in the humanities, but also enjoy the sciences. TJ opens a lot of kids eyes to possibilities in the social sciences that merge those interests. TJ humanities courses are often more rigorous than the same courses at base schools. They also have kids who are serious competitors at Model UN competitions and mock trial.
I don’t think it is fair to say that kids interested in the humanities are “taking spots” from STEM kids. In order to sit for the patent bar, you need to have taken science coursework. There was a senior this year that is going on to major in theatre design to merge an interest in theatre and engineering/fabrication. If your kid can hack the math pacing and enjoys academic challenge, TJ is a great place regardless of potential future career/major. |
Is there a Humanities Governor's School accessible to Fairfax residents? |
no |
Not at present for any NoVA student. Lobby your state elected officials. They could make it happen. |
