DD selected the ranked 7 electives and they are now in SIS. It appears the full year language and 2 semester electives are just lumped in with the core classes.
The bottom 4 electives are separated out as "alternate". In SIS there is no ranking that she put in the pink slip, where a particular elective was ranked #1 vs #5. Does this mean DD will get the electives based on availability and not as ranked? |
| What are the most common electives? Are there any "required" electives, like you must take a music or a pe or a language at some point? |
You seem really anxious. You need to relax. She picked courses and now you will have to wait and see what she gets right around when school starts. She is guaranteed to get a year long course such as a language or band/chorus/orchestra. The semester electives - it isn’t guaranteed that you will get your #1 choices. Expect some #2s if it’s a popular one. |
I wanted to add - the 2 that are lumped in on top with her core classes are her top two choices she entered. The 4 on the bottom are the alternates. |
PE is required all the way until 10th grade. It is not considered an elective. It is not required to take certain electives in middle school. In high school there are requirements for the standard and advanced diploma that involve electives. You can find these requirements on the FCPS website. |
