Accepted at: SMU, TCU, W&M.

Will go to W&M.

That's a great and prestigious outcome from my perspective. I think it's better than the ones where he was denied. Sincerely.
He wanted St Andrews with BU/Miami a close second. W&M it is. We are in state, so not a bad financial decision. But not what he wanted.

-Elon
-Charleston
-Tulane if ED and only if male. If female you need to be at least middle of the class.
-Maybe Penn State if not business or STEM
-Maybe Virginia Tech if not STEM
-Maybe Syracuse, depending on major and if ED

+1 Elon, Virginia Tech if not STEM or if female, JMU

BU and UMiami take many transfer students. If he’s still unhappy with W&M in a year, that path exists for a reason.

Bottom half to the class makes this a hard question to answer bc:
kids at the 50% mark can get into:
BC,
Davidson,
Vassar
etc lots of options if using ED.

Bottom 20% is a different story. I think this is an interesting category bcs there are actually a ton of great schools happy to take your kid who (from our private) probably has a 1400 on the SAT.

Bottom 20%:
American,
American U of Paris,
Auburn,
Bates
Denison,
GMU,
Purdue (non engineering)
Embry Riddle (for engineering)
Sarah Lawrence
SMU
U of Arizona
Stony Brook
U of Denver
Pitt
Puget Sound
WPI

CMU School of Art (not other majors in fine arts).
