The real reason Bowdoin is so loved: it’s easy

Is Bowdoin woke? I know Bates, and Colby for the most part isn't (though it's a far cry from conservative), but I've heard mixed opinions on Bowdoin.

How do you differentiate "woke" from normal liberal?

Now that Bowdoin has its own axe-grinding troll, maybe it really does belong with Williams, Amherst, Swarthmore, and Pomona, whose haters are as loud and prolific as they are dumb.

Pronouns, stolen land acknowledgements, encampments, etc.

If it is so easy, why didn’t more than 8% of last year’s freshman class get a 4.0?l

And right on cue, anti-woke weirdo chimes in. I think you may be on to something!

Rigor is overstated. The kids need to be challenged but, in the end, they need to LEARN the material. Not get beat down by some self-important prof who gets off on a 65% being an A.

Rigor is pretty important in an era where many students won’t have jobs because their education signals little hard work. The most abstract, rigorous conceptual thinkers will win.

Bowdoin students who are applying to med school and law school have high MCAT and LSAT scores. There is plenty of rigor at the college.

No time for rigor because there are sombreros to freak out about.
