MIT is in Cambridge, not Boston. You’d know that if you went to MIT! |
Um, okay. Boston in PPs post refers to the whole area and all the colleges within, including MIT and Harvard which are in Cambridge. BC in chestnut hill, Tufts in Somerville, even Wellesley out in the town Wellesley. Your post is the one that shows you didn’t go to school in Boston. |
| Oops Tufts in Medford. It’s been a while for me |
If the professors are subpar (any specific examples?) why would it be better for grad school? |
Mailing address Medford, but actually straddles Somerville/Medford.

Harvard faculty was suppose to vote this week on a new grading policy that would take effect in fall 2028. That vote was postponed.
It’s interesting that very few here who are anti-Harvard actually attended. It’s always my kid’s friend or my friend or some such. In any case, Harvard and MIT typically battle it out for highest yield each year, with Princeton and Yale not really in the running. They must be doing something right, or maybe it’s just the allure of Cambridge. |
My three season varsity athlete son (captain of two) who is very social is already committed to Harvard (not an athletic recruit). Maybe they will meet at Visitas. |

I think it's very hard to turn down Harvard. But yield and student satisfaction are two different things. |
My child is a first year and can’t speak highly enough about the faculty as well as the guest speakers that both come to class as well as other forums hosted by the school. |
| My kid at Harvard has absolutely loved her time there. She has cultivated meaningful relationships with professors, met amazing friends, heard incredible speakers, had unbelievable travel opportunities, and gotten a world-class education. If your kid has the opportunity to go to Harvard, they should take it. Read the recent article in the Atlantic — being surrounded by high-achieving peers is a huge benefit. |
Brands lose their allure slowly and then suddenly |

The famous MIT - HARVARD equation:
Median IQ at MIT ( undergraduate)= Median IQ at Harvard ( undergraduate) + 30 |
Yeah, and that kid knew when applying he wanted yale over harvard which is why he didn’t accept harvard immediately. In the Op’s case, she’s pretending to know nothing about nothing. I know someone who turned harvard down for a full ride at an ivy+ - turning harvard down is believable…not bc you really don’t know much about it though after you got in As I said: troll |
While I appreciate the reply, you also didn't go to college in Boston or you'd know that 90% of the MIT frats are in the city of Boston because MIT was originally located in Boston. Only a few are on campus in Cambridge. So, no, I'm being literal. |
