40 years old. 4 jobs total after college, if you count PhD and postdoc. If you count those as training (though I did get paid lol), then 2.
50. 10 full-time jobs. 4 rif (layoff; bankruptcy; layoff; contract funding cut). been at the last place a decade. who knows whats going to happen, of course...
57. 8 jobs since graduating high school. Longest tenure was 17 years where many of us survived two acquisitions.
One ft woh, then contract wah work for years and now ft wah.

So many. 6 school districts (I've moved a lot), 2 park districts, Kohls, 1 daycare, 3 tutoring centers, babysitting, 3 restaurants, took care of horses, and worked at 2 colleges. Some of these were summer jobs, or part time jobs after school, some were in high school and college.

Four different fields. Two jobs in each of the first three fields, although technically one was a return after maternity leave. Current field, I have had six positions with the same employer.
I don’t think I’ve really peaked yet, but I would need to leave my current employer to do so and I value both the job security and familiarity. Plus, I have really serious health issues that make it challenging to do that huge campaign to prove yourself in a new position. So I am stuck over performing in my current position. |

I was at the same company for 27 years in a many different roles until it got to a point where we couldn't reach an agreement on moving from a role that I accepted on an interim basis back into my preferred area. So, we parted ways.
I have been at my current company for two years, but have have held two different positions. Got hired in one, worked and did well for a year and was promoted and moved into my new role. So far, so good. Didn't count my time working for my uncle, lifeguard jobs in HS, working during winter break, etc. |
OK but what does your DH do?
I have had two employers since grad school. The first was the government. I made 52k. Then my current org, where I started around 80k and now make 210k. I have been here for about 10 years.
I’m 45 and I’ve only ever worked for the same federal agency since law school. I started as a fellow making $45k and I’m a topped out 15 at $195k. Did I miss opportunities? Sure. But I had a stable, steady career until this admin which balanced out my husband’s much less secure and volatile career.
6 total. Age 55
65 and just retired. 14 companies. For a number of the mm, something would always happen: massive revenue drop three months after I got there, company sold and broken into pieces, merger, couple of times a bad fit. I did wind up retiring at a high level, but it was a battle.
57...one federal office different projects and roles. Started at 20k...now 180k 7-14. Enjoyed it till this year but hanging on a few more.
50. 3 different employer. Worked twice for my first employer, started with undergrad, then left to do graduate studies and came back to work for same employer.
