Ambulance? The kids has to pay $2500 for non emergency transport? Were the parents notified first?

Umm no
You need to know the law
Insurance picks up the bill for an emergency transport. If no insurance there is no bill.
Non emergency transport is for when you are taken from one hospital to another, or a hospital to a rehab place, stuff like that.

You have to pay for the ambulance unless you are admitted to the hospital. That’s if you have insurance. Obviously if you don’t have insurance there is no bill like pp said and this also doesn’t apply to medicaid. But if you have private insurance you will need to pay for the ambulance unless you are admitted.

your comment contradicts itself. In moco You the person do not have to pay for an ambulance thats called thru 911 or in this type of situation. If you have insurance they get billed. If not, the county eats the cost.

Insurance gets billed, yes. But unless you have medicaid or were admitted as a patient (not just treated in the ER) insurance will not pay for the ambulance-it doesn’t matter if it was called through 911 or not. You will see it on your exclamation of benefits. Of course, every policy is different and probably some will cover it but by and large that’s the general rule.

They do this specifically so people aren’t calling ambulances for minor injuries-which isn’t what an ambulance is for.

Look at the inflated grades, poor student conduct, the clueless legal team/admin who cause and then can’t defend a lawsuit. Needs new leadership ASAP.

+1 I understand why progressives try to keep these troubled violent kids in regular school, but c'mon, you are doing so at the expense of the vast majority of kids, and teachers/admins.

Everyone is owed a public education but not everyone is owed access to school buildings. In this day and age, virtual learning for behavior problems is totally fine. They aren't in the building to learn anyway.

It’s pretty hilarious that you think kids that have behavior serious enough to not be allowed in a school building are going to actually participate in virtual school.

Yes but that’s on them. Maybe some of them would have a “gee this s my last shot” realization. But once a kid is 16 or older, you can lead them to water but you can’t make them drink. If they are in the school but not learning and just disrupting other kids, what’s the point? When I was a teen, those kids just dropped out because Hs was only mandatory until age 16.

This is true, but if the kids are repeat offenders, they clearly need a different environment, not a regular public school.

The news story referenced a video that the administrators are urging students not to circulate, must be pretty awful from a PR perspective.

I have a hdp. I'd still have to pay $$$ for the ambulance.

You people are spouting misinformation about ambulance services.

In Montgomery County, residents do not pay EMT ambulance fees. Period. This became law in 2013.

+1
Or parents will continue to flee to privates and virtual school and public school will become the penitentiary

We pay through our property taxes and our insurance being billed and we pay for our insurance. However, we should not get any extra bills to pay directly.

The previous poster said BILLED FOR AN AMBULANCE RIDE, not pennies of my property tax pay for ambulance rides. Jesus Christ, you people are ridiculous.
